Hear what Our Patients Have to Say

I want to express my utmost gratitude and amazement with regards to my client!! I saw him for the first time a few days ago. I honestly DID NOT RECOGNIZE him!! Seriously! He had an entirely different demeanor, and it was such a striking contrast from before he went to treatment. Wow!!! I can’t say enough about the continuous contact I had from Malia. She took the time to write many emails describing the particulars of his progress. I felt that I was “in the loop” with his treatment. This is actually the best communication I have had with any treatment center thus far. I apologize for the excitement but it is genuine. He was an extremely complex client with characteristics that would typically be treatment resistant. Please tell your staff that they did a bang up job! I have already attempted to send a few others your way. I would love to come visit at some point and meet the people who made this possible.

Next Chapter saved my life.

I am a 38 year old who has struggled with addiction for my entire adult life. I have also tried to battle this many times and have a history of chronic relapse. I have been through other treatment centers and have never been able to maintain permanent sobriety.

The level of treatment at Next Chapter is something I have never seen before. The 12-step help and encouragement I received was spiritually uplifting. It has put me on a path to rebuild my relationships with my family and to be a better more considerate person to others.

The emersion with clinical processes have given me a chance to address the things in myself I have never acknowledged, or even been aware of, that effect my decisions and my relationships.

The staff are both challenging and caring, and have dedicated their lives to this process of helping people to heal. This combined with the refinements of a beautiful house and grounds are the foundation of a solid path to recovery.

My family and myself owe a debt of gratitude to Next Chapter that we will never be able to repay. I can only hope to go forward and grow, and to be able to help them help others whenever I possibly can. This is the inspiration that they have provided me and I will never forget it.

Thank You Next Chapter!

I want to start this off by saying I am very grateful for the authenticity, compassion, love, and of course that real swift kick in the butt that I received here at Next Chapter. By that I mean, like no other place I have been, they give you the harsh reality of what we suffer from through experience, which holds a lot more depth and weight than any written up curriculum.

First coming in to Next Chapter I was broken, hopeless, disappointed in myself that I did it again. What immediately brought hope and excitement was the enthusiasm, and love expressed by the staff both clinical and residential. To actually be able to see the passion emanated on a daily basis began to restore life to a broken soul. I have never been in therapy before so I was skeptical and didn’t know what to expect. All I can say is that everybody that works here, was put here for a reason. Each therapist has helped me uncover and discover things about my past that I thought were so small and inconsequential. In reality they were the start of falsified core beliefs that ran ramped throughout my life. It helped me begin to see life from a different perspective and begin preparation to discard them from my life.

By far the most influential aspect of this program is the emersion into the 12 steps. We had a 12 step group everyday based from experience which makes so much more real. I was able to relate on a much deeper level. To see the light in staffs eyes as they would talk with purpose, honesty, and humility it began to create and urgency in me. To want to strive for this gift of live that they have obtained through a spiritual awakening which is a result of what they teach to us on a daily basis. The Residential staff who taught us these groups are with us the most. No matter what they are doing they will stop and give you the time to talk and share based on what they have been through. They promote sponsorship, promote getting sober support so that we begin to build a foundation before we leave. Through the sponsorship which they allowed us to do, all the things I had uncovered, and discovered I was able to discard working through the steps. It is a blessing and a miracle how the treatment from clinical to 12 step flows in such a way that a change begins to happen before you even walk out that door as long as you put in the work.

I am eternally Grateful

“My journey (and growth!) of these last several months has been tremendous, and I could not be more grateful to Next Chapter and all involved for your part in helping me to open my eyes and heart to a self-awareness I have not had in a very, very long time. I took your suggestions from our first initial conversations of getting back to 12 step meetings, counseling and my own inward continued journey. I express genuine, true heartfelt thanks for that.

I am in such a better place of working on letting my son’s journey be his very own choices and stepping back with my business being my own and staying out of his. It’s progress and far from perfection, and it’s a start. I feel freer from those enmeshed feelings of when he is frustrated or angry or spent–whatever–and such an awesome freedom from that. I feel freer from that with my ex-husband, my work relationships, my relationship with my current partner. And it feels incredibly empowering, humbling and dare I say at times, joyful.

My own journey continues, as with all. You will remain within. Again, I am beyond grateful for the experience of this relationship with you all in this most precious work you do. And as one of my favorite expressions goes,

More will be revealed!

All the very best”

Tessa

I came to next chapter completely broken and devoid of any sort of hope; having made multiple attempts at consummating sobriety not only with my own methods but through the aid of family, friends, other treatments, and 12 step programs. I did marginally well in The fellowship of a 12 step program for a period of time before I kept hitting these seemingly invisible roadblocks that would lead me back down the rabbit hole of active addiction. Needless to say, Having experienced these chronic relapses, I came into Next chapter very skeptical of what yet another treatment could offer a guy like me. I was desperate for answers yet unsure that I would receive them here. I was told upon arrival that the philosophy of next chapter didn’t look much like traditional treatments I had already been to; and that the element of 12 step immersion combined with intensive therapy could potentially give direction that, if applied thoroughly and diligently could save my life. My expectations were of course, muddled by my previous failures. However through the loving care and patience of the residential staff marked by their firm faith in 12 step work , the incisive yet compassionate therapy, and the experiential groups I participated in I was able to create a whole new experience that revolutionized my attitude and outlook on recovery. The answers I needed as to why I kept floundering and more importantly what I needed to do daily to stay grounded in recovery finally came to fruition. My journey today, though imperfect, looks much more stable not only externally but internally in my heart, mind and soul. I am happy, joyous and free and live with purpose. If you are struggling with addiction, please, contact these folks as soon as possible as they may just be able to help you save your life. They allowed me to begin the next chapter in my journey, and for that I will be forever grateful.

90 Days ago, with little hope and feelings of total helplessness, I drove my son from New York to Next Chapter on a recommendation from our District Attorney’s office. We were meet with an instant feeling of understanding and renewed hope. Addiction is a life-long battle, but with the understanding, therapy and commitment that was given at Next Chapter I feel cautiously optimistic regarding my son’s recovery. Next Chapter and their staff I regard as high level professionals.
